Re: ''PM's surprise talks plan needs a serious look'' (Opinion, Aug 5).
Veera Prateepchaikul says ''Ms Yingluck appeared to be a changed person [on her return from Africa], like a born-again Christian''. He then quotes her as saying: ''It is most regrettable that some groups of people want to use the streets to carry out their activities. Although it is their right to do so, their expressions calling for the overthrow of the government, a coup, and the use of violence go against the democratic rule and are provocative.''
I read this as the PM speaking only to the political opposition, and though she may be right in the context of what she says, this Christian-acting PM should also be ''preaching to the choir''. That is, her red-shirt choir that keeps singing her praises while using the streets to carry out their activities.
