Re ''Fast and Furious 8: Life in the slow lane'' (Life, Aug 21).
During the 1990s, I commuted from my home in Lad Phrao to school next to Rama I Memorial Bridge using the No.8 bus twice daily. When the news about Transport Minister Chadchart Sittipunt's ride on a Bangkok bus came out, and later that his Facebook fanpage survey showed that the No.8 bus was by far the worst among all of Bangkok's buses, I was not at all surprised.
When I saw the photo of him riding the No.8 bus in the news, it gave me the impression that nothing about our mass public transport system - used daily by most Bangkokians - has changed since I used it 20 years ago. I felt like we are in a time capsule. Twenty years is a long time; in 1993, Bangkok had no BTS, Emporium or Paragon.
