The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has agreed to renew its lease with Chatuchak Weekend Market vendors when their contracts expire next year.
Chatuchak market director Jaraspan Watcharothai, director of the Traffic Department, said the renewed contract will run for five years and take effect when the current lease ends on Feb 28 next year.
The renewal was settled after discussions with the vendors, who asked for a new lease at a suitable rate as well as improved utility services at the market.
Mr Jaraspan said it is likely the vendors will not be charged much more than than they are paying now, which is 3,157 baht per vending stall per month.
The new rate will take into account various factors including the economic situation and comparable rents of nearby commercial space.
He said the new rate will be proposed to the SRT board for consideration.
