The planned auction of commercial digital television licences is likely to be postponed from September to give business operators more time to prepare, a member of the telecom and broadcasting watchdog said on Sunday.
Supinya Klangnarong of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) said the planned bidding may be pushed back to late this year.
The auction is tentatively scheduled for next month.
Ms Supinya said the regulations involving the auction of the commercial digital TV licences were published in the Royal Gazette on Wednesday.
She said a draft invitation to join the auction is being prepared by the Office of the NBTC, and the commission’s broadcasting committee is expected to consider it on Monday.
The sooner the invitation is announced, the better, she said.
She added the business operators should be given at least 60 days to prepare after the invitation is issued.
