Sathit Limpongpan new SET boss

The Stock Exchange of Thailand's board of governors on Wednesday appointed Sathit Limpongpan the new chairman of the SET, with immediate effect.

The board's secretary Sakkarin Ruamrangsri said Mr Sathit, a member of the board of governors appointed by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), succeeds , whose term has ended.
Mr Sathit’s term will run to Sept 5, 2015.
The exchange also welcomed Suthichai Chitvanich as a new governor, he said. Mr Suthichai was appointed by the SEC to replace Subhak Siwaraksa, whose term had ended.
Mr Sathit, 63, earned his PhD in Development Administration from the National Institute of Development Administration, Master of Economics from Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, Barrister-at-Law from the Institute of Legal Education of the Thai Bar Association, and Bachelor of Law degree from Thammasat University.
He has served as permanent secretary of the Ministry of Finance; chairman of Office of the Insurance Commission; vice chairman of the Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission; chairman of the Government Pension Fund; director of the Bank of Thailand; and in other key capital market posts.
The new governor on the board, Mr Suthichai, 62, holds a Master of Law degree from Chulalongkorn University and Master of Management from the Sasin Graduate Institute of Business, Chulalongkorn University. He has served as SET’s executive vice president, assistant secretary to the supervision and development of Thai Capital Market Committee, chaired by the minister of finance, and is a member of several law organisations.
