This is a 187-room, Thai village-style property situated at the northern end of picturesque Hua Hin Beach, about 220km south of Bangkok. Surrounded by a three-metre-high wall, the resort's 21 two-storey buildings are dotted around a 5.6 hectare site, which boasts landscaped gardens and ornamental ponds filled with lotus blossoms and water lilies.
Climbing the flight of steps to reception, one passes a wall impressively adorned with a motif of elephants in procession. The tropical gardens here are the work of landscape designer Bill Bensley and comprises five distinct areas: a white garden, heliconia garden, red, palm and yellow gardens.
The Anantara offers a range of facilities to suit families, business travellers and honeymooners including Thai cooking classes and various water sports.
